As you get settled, you will see that forest surrounds you on all sides and you will hear only the peaceful sounds of the flowing river and the local birds. You will feel as if you have left civilization behind and entered a place of wilderness and serenity. Your cabin was built using the douglas fir trees from the property, from its impressive exterior beams to the colourful and warm wood flooring. The additional natural features of log ceiling beams and the river rock fireplace add to the ambience. You will not miss any comforts from home, however, as the interior is equipped with all the modern conveniences, such as fridge/freezer, microwave, television/vhs/dvd, stereo, telephone and cable internet connection. The recently renovated bathroom features Douglas fir wood flooring and trim and a Jacuzzi tub and shower surrounded by natural slate and river rock. The water coming from the taps is crystal clear and tastes pure and fresh, probably the best in the world, coming from a spring running underground deep beneath the river. The inviting, cozy bedroom adorns wood beams and contains a queen size bed that will provide you with comfort and a good night’s sleep. If required, additional sleeping space is available on the new and very comfortable double hideabed in the living room. From the bright living room, you are surrounded by windows looking out onto the large property and surrounding wilderness. Double french doors open onto a private deck, complete with a barbeque and dining area.
If you prefer to venture out, Shawnigan Lake is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute bike ride away. The ocean beach in Mill Bay is a 20 minute drive. The surrounding Cowichan Valley contains countless opportunities of things to do, such as ocean kayaking, cycling, visiting wineries, visiting artisans, shopping and much more. While enjoying your quiet forest retreat, you may find it hard to believe that the city of Victoria is only a 40 minute drive away, and is a world class tourism destination.
